Jose Similus
Born and raised in Haiti, Jose returned to INUKA after earning his computer-science degree and established the university’s first computer laboratory. He now works in enterprise application operations and mentors engineers, bringing both personal connection and practical technology experience to RSVP.
Born and raised in Haiti, Jose Similus developed an early passion for technology and education. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from INUKA in 2001, he returned to his alma mater to establish its first computer laboratory. The project gave students access to technology and hands-on learning opportunities that had not previously existed, reflecting Jose’s belief that technology can transform lives and strengthen communities.
Jose later earned a Master of Arts from the University of South Florida and completed LaunchCode’s software-development program. Today, he works as an Application Operations Senior Engineer with expertise in enterprise application support, production operations, and system reliability.
Across the financial-services and healthcare-technology industries, Jose has solved complex technical challenges, led operational improvements, and mentored fellow engineers. He continues to look for practical ways technology can open learning opportunities—the same conviction that first led him back to INUKA.
