Stewardship & Records

Every gift deserves a clear purpose.

Before RSVP approves a grant, the board wants to know who identified the need, what the money will pay for, whether the recipient is ready, how children will be protected, and what follow-up makes sense.

01

A clear purpose

Every request should name what the grant will purchase, provide, repair, or support.

02

A board decision

RSVP’s board reviews and approves grants before charitable funds are committed.

03

Follow-through that fits the grant

Before funding, RSVP and the recipient agree on an update that matches the size and purpose of the work.

Before a grant is made

Five questions guide the review.

The questions are simple on purpose. They turn a broad request into something the board can understand, approve, and follow.

  1. Who is asking, and how close are they to the work?

The need should be identified by the school or community organization that will carry the work forward.

  2. What will this grant make possible?

The request should name what the funds will purchase or support, so the board can weigh a real plan rather than a broad promise.

  3. Can the organization carry it out?

The board considers leadership, day-to-day readiness, and who will be responsible once funding begins.

  4. How will children and young people be protected?

Any request involving children must include clear safeguards and responsible adults.

  5. What will RSVP hear after the grant?

Before funding, RSVP and the recipient agree on a useful update: what was done and what the grant supported, in a form that fits the size of the work.
